Walk above it all / by Aleksandra Shekutkovska

Condominium slogans reveal a great deal about constructing urban identities and urban lifestyles. Still working on my mini collection of condominium slogans ( specifically on condominiums close to the BTS station ).

In the meantime, mapping and exploring development phases in Thong Lo has become a task. Using google's earth history tool it's convenient enough to depict certain places of development and how they have changed in the last 10 years. Since Bangkok post revealed that Sukhumvit 38 beginning street food ingenuity will be replaced with a developer's plan of a luxury condominium, I am interested in going even more in depth with changes in land ownership, urban development versus labor/residence alterations, stages of breaking the "ecosystem of the soi" , effects and consequences of differentiating the residential and productive functions and forces of the neighbourhood.

Bellow is the historical development of Noble Remix 2 condominium which is connected with Thong Lo BTS station with it's individual elevated access. This only indicates the change in the physical form, the urban tissue of the district. What happens bellow it all, the invisible elevated city layer versus the informal "performative environments" remain an ongoing research.
